Friends Land Group

Located just north of Drake, Colorado

Directions to the site The property lies about 45 minutes away from downtown Loveland, or about 55-60 minutes west of I-25. About 16 miles west of the junction of US 34 and US 287 lies the town of Drake on US 34, or about 20.5 miles west of the I-25 exit. Here the paved US 34 forks and the paved road to Glen Haven snakes off to the right. There is a restaurant at the junction with a big dirt parking lot and a red stagecoach mounted next to their sign.

A short way up the Glen Haven Road (about 1,000 feet) a branch road exits over a concrete bridge that crosses the river.

Follow this gravel county road across the bridge and up the canyon wall. There are several sharp U-turns and sharp curves.

The road passes through several narrow places, passes Cedar Park Ranch, and finally (1&1/2 miles) comes out on top of the canyon in a grassy mountain park, at the junction of Storm Mountain Road and Palisade Mountain Dr.

Turn east (right) on Palisade Mountain Rd, follow it 1/4 mile downhill past the bears to Snowtop Road and turn left (north).

Snowtop Road goes back uphill and curves east again. Follow it 3/4 mile to Bobcat (a small side road on the right).

Turn right onto Bobcat, follow it 1/4 mile to its sharp curve, where a fence and gate blocks the way straight ahead.

Open the appropriate lock and close and relock the gate behind you (get combination only from Peter Sartucci), and drive northeast across the meadows 1/2 mile to the second gate (no lock, just close it behind you), then follow the main road (not the driveways) another 1/2 mile northeast to the third gate (another combination lock), close and lock this behind you.

Drive east and down into the canyon, across the creek, up the other side and out of the canyon back onto a grassy/forested plateau, until you come to a white signpost about 3 feet tall with an address on is in black and gold letters.

A driveway cuts off here to the left, it is better than the road ahead. Don't be fooled, drive straight, and begin to straddle the ruts that now appear in the road.

The road will go east another 1/2 mile, around a small sharp curve and a broad gentle one, under a small power line, and another meadow will appear on the left with a small narrow dirt road going off to the right. This is the entrance to the property. Drive slightly more than 1/4 mile south on this narrow road through the trees, avoiding the occasional rocks, to the property line (a yellow National Forest Boundary sign on a tree next to the road).

Go another 500 feet to the meadow and park.

You can't get in without the gate combinations. The neighbor's won't tell you what they are. Call Peter Sartucci for assistance.
