You find a tiny boat at a trade caravan and it interests you enough to buy it for a few silver pieces. The boat is only about 1/2 foot long and is daintily constructed out of a very light wood. It interested you because it seems so fragile, but has obviously survived quite a journey. You try to take it apart to see what made it so sturdy. There seems to be a little piece of paper inside. It has an oriental writing on it:
You translate it (or get a friend to translate it). It says, "My wish for the Cherry Blossom Festival is that the rains would come again. I wish my crops would do well. I wish the fire on the mountain would stop." You ask the caravan merchant where he got it. He tells you of another merchant. You track him down - he tells you he got it from another merchant. Merchant after merchant, you finally trace its origins to a small chain of islands near the Sea Kingdoms. It seems like a chance for adventure, so you gather 5 of your most trusted adventurers and hire a boat. You find the island you're looking for by following the trail of smoke. The mountain in the center of this little island appears to be on fire. You go to the local village to investigate.
